My expertise also extends to surgical simulation, 3D printing, and AI-driven innovation. I worked at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in the Department of Genetics, where I gained valuable experience that would later inform my role as a vascular surgery consultant. After my time there, I applied and was accepted to the VCU School of Medicine, completing my degree in 2002. During my studies, I found opportunities for mentorship, particularly in guiding medical students interested in becoming expert witnesses in the field of vascular surgery.
I remained at VCU Health System for my training in general surgery, which I completed in 2007. Following this, I applied and was accepted into a vascular surgery fellowship at VCU Health System, which I completed in 2009. During my time there, I had the opportunity to serve as a vascular surgery consultant, providing mentorship to medical students and sharing my knowledge as an expert witness in the field.
In 2019, I completed my Masters in Education in the Health Professions (MEHP) from Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Education, focusing on the online education of medical students. Since completing the program, I have held a position as an Adjunct Professor at JHU, where I also engage in mentorship, particularly for those aspiring to become vascular surgeons. Additionally, I serve as a vascular surgery consultant, providing insights as an expert witness in the field.
Since 2011, I have been a practicing vascular surgeon at the Central Virginia VA Health Care System (Richmond VAMC), where I hold the position of Division Chief of Vascular Surgery and serve as the Medical Director of the Non-Invasive Duplex Laboratory. In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I also provide mentorship to medical students and serve as a vascular surgery consultant, advising the VA on various national matters in the field of vascular surgery. Furthermore, I have experience as an expert witness, contributing to the understanding and development of best practices in our field.
